Now Offering Acupuncture

Offered by our physical therapist, Karen Chouinard and billable as physical therapy, acupuncture is an excellent choice for:

  • relieving pain
  • modulating mood
  • increasing energy
  • improving mobility
  • restoring function.

Acupuncture treats both the symptoms and root cause of illness.

Acupuncture uses small diameter needles in specific anatomical locations to stimulate and balance the flow of energy throughout the body. When the balance of energy in our body is disrupted we are more susceptible to illness and our ability to recover from an injury is impaired. When energy flows easily throughout the body we feel well, our bodies are naturally healthy, and we are able to bounce back from injury quicker.

ACUEveryone experiences acupuncture differently. Most people feel very minimal pain as the needles are inserted. Needles are usually left in for 15-20 minutes. It is common to feel a mild aching or pressure around the needle site. Most clients report feeling relaxed during treatment with improvements in pain and mobility often after just one session.

Acupuncture may be combined with craniosacral therapy, exercise, and other physical therapy modalities to enhance its effects. Electrical stimulation of needles may be used.

For clients interested in the effects of acupuncture, but not comfortable with needles, electrical stimulation of acupuncture points using a TENS machine is another option. Clients can attend to learn how to best use their TENS machine for pain relief at home.
