Cheryl Otterbein
Psychotherapist RCS, MTC, Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapist, HT Registered Counselling Supervisor | Master Therapeutic Counsellor | Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapist
I’m a Psychotherapist and Registered Counselling Supervisor with over a decade of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through trauma, anxiety, grief, and emotional healing. My work is grounded in medical and mental health training, and I provide a respectful, compassionate, and client-focused environment where you can feel seen, heard, and supported.
My integrative approach draws from evidence-based therapies, including CBT, DBT, ACT, and Narrative Therapy. I also offer Clinical Hypnotherapy for deeper work with the subconscious mind. Sessions are tailored to your unique story and needs, whether you’re working through emotional pain, relationship challenges, or looking to break free from stuck patterns.
I specialize in:
- Developmental and complex trauma
- Grief and life transitions
- Anxiety and emotional overwhelm.
- Inner child work and self-worth
- Hypnotherapy for chronic pain, addiction, menopause symptoms, emotional eating, and insomnia
I also specialize in men’s mental health. Many men face pressure to stay silent about their struggles. I provide a safe, confidential, and judgment-free space for men to explore emotions, manage stress, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with themselves in a meaningful way.
In My Element
I connect most with the Earth element—grounded, nurturing, and steady. I live in rural Alberta and find peace in nature: walking wooded trails, gardening, stargazing, or enjoying the crackle of a fire with family and friends. I also serve on executive boards and stay involved in my local community. Whether in therapy or in life, I strive to create space for honesty, calm, and personal transformation.
