Cheryl Otterbein, Psychotherapist

Cheryl Otterbein

I have studied in two areas of focus: I am a Psychotherapist/Master Therapeutic Counsellor and a Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapist. My background is in the medical field, in varying capacities, where I helped people through their trauma, anxiety, and pain.

I approach all clients with the respect. Respect for their culture, their life, their beliefs, and their experiences. I utilize many tools, among them cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I see each person as the unique individual that they are, and my approach will be unique to you and your goals.

My specialties are addressing trauma, anxiety, and inner childhood. I work with complex issues and other issues that prevent you from moving forward into your best life. I also work with hypnosis, if the client
would prefer that approach, to which we can also address menopausal symptoms, emotional eating, weight, smoking, addictive behaviors, chronic pain, insomnia, and much more.

As we work together, my approach is that we are a team. I work with individuals, couples, and families. I have been known to give couples homework!

I would be honored to work with you. Providing a safe space to share and in a relaxed environment is my priority.
Together we can make a difference.

In Her Element

I identify most as an Earth element. I am hard-working, well-grounded, and work very well in nature. I am best known for spending most of my free time outdoors whether I am gardening, walking where  I live in a rural area, or star gazing. In the winter, I have been found heliskiing, ice fishing, or just breathing the fresh crisp air. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and cool evenings on my deck with fires. I also serve on several executive boards giving back to my community and I love all wildlife, connecting with animals in general.
